First, thanks to all of you for your comments, and especially thanks to Linette for careing about my safety, and to Polar Pilot for drawing my attention to points I did not think of.
Then, I certainly do NOT ride without lights on !!
Even here in remote (?) Finland all motorized vehicles must have lights on, and if you forget to put them on, like some people do who drive simple cars like Mercedes-Benz where the lights do not come on automatically, most of the people you meet will kindly flick their lights at you so you know you're "dark". All the bikes I have had before have had separate switch for the lights... (and kickstart). I thought it would be saving the battery, if I could switch it on manually. The very stupid sidestand switch would really be good for a lights-on switch, like Intrud'n suggested, but I allready managed to get rid of it, since there was no place for it on my new footpegs, and I hated it anyway.
Now, I think I will leave the lights as they are.
